4G dials up small cells — finally!
Andrea Goldsmith, a Stanford professor and wireless expert who advises Crown Castle, said that in the U.S., the company is “rolling out lots of small cells; we are finally starting to see them gain traction.” Meanwhile, in London, small cell base stations are gaining traction, but mainly for improving indoor 4G LTE coverage in offices, while outdoor 5G units are “still a ways off.”
