Crown Castle, which owns a cellular antenna tower at 620 St. Clair Street in the Village, will be replacing old, canister-shaped equipment on the tower for AT&T with new antennas and cables. The City Council unanimously voted in favor of a special land use permit to allow the removal of the old antennas and the new equipment and City Planner John Jackson said “based on our assessment, we don’t think there’s going to be any negative impact at all. We think the new equipment will be less visually obtrusive … and reduce some of the mechanical burden.” Michael Gasser, a Crown Castle representative, said “we think this will not only be an aesthetic (improvement), but (provide) better quality (service) for the community.”
