Forbes contributor Brad Thomas reported that, over the next decade, wireless applications powered by 5G technologies are expected to disrupt nearly every sector of the economy, requiring massive investments in communications infrastructure. For this reason, Thomas states, cell tower companies and data center-owned operators will be key beneficiaries of 5G-related spending. Thomas reports that cell towers and small cell technology will be the core of 5G, mentioning Crown Castle as "America’s largest operator of small-cell networks, with roughly 40,000 towers and 60,000 route miles of fiber across the U.S"
