Ocean City, MD Councilman Tony DeLuca made a motion during the council comments section last week to revoke the Mayor and Council’s approval last month of nine small-scale cell towers in northend residential areas proposed by Crown Castle in December. The motion was seconded by Councilman Matt James, who, during the meeting, criticized Councilman Mark Paddack for approving the measure where he lives, but not having a small cell tower placed outside his home. Paddack responded by stating “he had no concerns about the towers and would welcome one in front of his home if Crown Castle believed it was a good location” and that there is no scientific data saying they can cause cancer. After debate, the council did not pass the motion.
