Speaking to the state’s efforts at making Miami, FL a smart city, Margaret Brisbane, assistant director of the city of Miami’s Information and Technology, said that "the transition into this new method of information and data collection is for the security and safety of citizens." Michael Sarasti, Miami’s CIO, also spoke with Brisbane, and was persistent on ensuring "advancement of civic services, user-driven technology and open data," stating that the department "set up a system designed for user feedback testing of the city’s applications" and will be testing its building and permitting application this month.
