Following complaints of "dead zones" reported by residents and police officers, West Lake Hills, TX, is exploring ways to improve wireless connectivity. AT&T has begun installing small cell nodes in places around Austin and Rollingwood, and an AT&T spokesman gave suggestions to the City Council on ways to improve reception in the West Lake Hills area, including installing "at most" 15 small cell nodes around the city. West Lake Hills Mayor Linda Anthony stressed that the low connectivity is "a public safety issue," and that representatives plan to do a survey of all infrastructure, including light poles and street lights, to find the best places to install the nodes so that they do not affect the aesthetic view of the road or area.
