Why Anaheim needs more wireless infrastructure.
Centrally located within Southern California, the City of Anaheim is one of the busiest regional economic hubs in Orange County and is quickly becoming a world-class business center. In fact, Anaheim is the second largest city in Orange County in terms of land area. And, based on the 2010 United States Census, the City of Anaheim was the most populated city in Orange County and the tenth most populated city in California. The city is known worldwide as a center for entertainment, tourism, and convention activities. This translates into a prestigious, high profile international address that balances business and residential growth.
Anaheim is uniquely positioned as a high-growth city, making it essential that its residents, businesses and tourists have access to the most cutting-edge wireless technology. That’s why Crown Castle is proposing to build a new small cell network, connected by fiber optic cable, to significantly extend capacity. The technology is designed to complement the existing infrastructure to create the best possible wireless experience. Among its many advantages, the technology helps reduce redundant infrastructure and minimize the number of new facilities required. As a result of the deployment, citizens gain more reliable and faster access to all wireless services—most importantly public safety services, such as local 911 where, in most areas, 80% of calls originate from a mobile device.

Where we’re installing small cells.
Small cells are installed in the right of way, often on infrastructure like street signs, utility poles and streetlights. You may have walked by them before without noticing them. Working in partnership with city staff, we plan to enable improved wireless provider service while keeping Anaheim's character intact.
