Why Dallas needs more wireless infrastructure.
Dallas is the quintessential Texas city; it’s sprawling and self-assured, cosmopolitan and confident, growing yet “grassroots.” Home to an estimated 1.3 million people, it’s where gleaming skyscrapers stand shoulder-to-shoulder with eclectic neighborhoods and suburban commercial districts. Its metropolitan area ranked first in a recent list of the best areas in the nation for jobs, ensuring that Dallas will remain a magnet for highly skilled talent in industries such as IT, defense, finance, life sciences, telecommunications and transportation. And it draws tens of millions of tourists each year to its seemingly endless array of professional sports, family-friendly offerings, Southwestern-inspired cuisine and cultural venues.
Fast, reliable wireless connectivity is essential to nearly every facet of life in Dallas, and it’s particularly important for public safety—in many areas, 80 percent of all 911 calls to police, firefighters and first responders now originate on mobile devices. Every day, the city’s demand for mobile data seems to grow exponentially, placing a crushing burden on the existing wireless infrastructure. Small cell solutions can help expand network coverage, complementing Dallas' existing cell towers and other wireless infrastructure.

Where we're installing small cells.
Small cells are installed in the right of way, often on infrastructure like street signs, utility poles and streetlights. You may have walked by them without noticing. Working in partnership with city staff, we plan to enable improved wireless provider service while keeping Dallas’s character intact.
