Why Frisco needs more wireless infrastructure.
The fastest growing suburb in the affluent “Platinum Corridor” within the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, Frisco has been on an upward trajectory since the turn of the millennium. With more than 170,000 residents, the city is supported by an ongoing influx of businesses from almost every industry sector. Its school district is one of the nation’s fastest growing and most exemplary. And it welcomes millions of visitors each year to its premier sporting events, upscale shopping establishments, four-star restaurants, and its recreation mecca of Lake Lewisville. It’s no wonder that Frisco has been named by Forbes as one of the top places to relocate, and by Money as one of the nation’s top places to live.
In recent years, the people, communities and businesses of Frisco have become heavily reliant on fast, reliable wireless connectivity. Demand for mobile data keeps rising exponentially, yet the city’s existing wireless infrastructure has been unable to keep pace. It’s a dire concern, especially considering the public safety implications—in many areas, 80 percent of all emergency calls to police, firefighters and other first responders are now initiated on mobile devices. Small cell solutions, or “small cells,” can help expand network coverage, complementing Frisco’s existing cell towers and other wireless infrastructure.

Where we're installing small cells.
Small cells are installed in the right of way, often on infrastructure like street signs, utility poles and streetlights. You may have walked by them before without noticing them. Working in partnership with city staff, we plan to enable improved wireless provider service while keeping Frisco's character intact.
