Why Tampa needs more wireless infrastructure.
Known for its Gulf Coast beaches, Bayshore Boulevard, theme parks and professional sports teams¹, the Tampa Bay Region is home to more than 3 million people, and the City of Tampa is the third largest city in the state². Tampa Bay is the economic hub of west Florida. Its diverse economy includes tourism, health care, finance, insurance, technology and construction, as well as the maritime industry. Tampa is also home to the largest port in Florida. Wireless connectivity is especially essential for the region’s businesses, residents and visitors alike.
With so many experiences to offer, including Super Bowl LV in 2021, it’s easy to see why demand for mobile data is growing exponentially in Tampa. Fast, reliable wireless connectivity is particularly important for public safety, with 80 percent of emergency calls in many areas being initiated on mobile devices. In such highly-populated areas, small cell solutions complement cell towers and other existing infrastructure.

Where we're installing small cells.
Small cells are installed in the right of way, often on infrastructure like street signs, utility poles and streetlights. You may have walked by them before without noticing them. Working in partnership with city staff, we plan to enable improved wireless provider service while keeping Tampa's character intact.
